Did last night’s Grammy Awards make you realize how much good music is out there? Ready to spice up your music playlist? Need to try something different? Today, check out hip-hop artist Andy Mineo’s top five reasons his new Never Land EP is must-have material!
1. Ask About The 116
The first reason you should check out my EP is because Never Land is the music of a movement. 116, the Unashamed movement, this is a thing that’s been sort of blowing up over the past few years. It’s music of a movement because we’ve been showing up to different concerts, we’ve been showing up to different countries, we’ve been having thousands of people coming out and screaming ‘116.’ It’s a global movement of people coming out and not being ashamed and wanting to live unashamed. We have zero radio push and zero mainstream attention, but we’ve been able to sellout venues only Drake and Jay Z have been able to do.
2. The Pursuit of Excellence
The second biggest reason is because everybody on my team, including myself, we have a high pursuit of excellence in our artistry to the glory of God. Everything that we do, everything we put out, we do it with the most excellence possible. It’s no secret that I’m a Christian and that other people on my label are Christians. There’s this theory that Christians only make music for other Christians, but we’re really trying to make music that’s so excellent that both the Christian and the non-Christian can come together for the art and enjoy it and we can relate to people on both sides.
3. Wake Up
The third biggest reason is because I think I’m bringing hip-hop sober honesty. I don’t want people to only walk away thinking, “Oh, that was great music.” I want them to ask themselves a hard question and think about life. I want to bring real, dope art but I want to also bring sobering honesty. We want to make impacts and change the world.
4. Run That Beat Back
I have incredible production on this project. I used six producers, three of them are Grammy-winning producers. They were all on Lecrae’s Grammy-winning Gravity album and I was also on that record. Every track on the project hits hard. You’re going to see all of the influence on this project.
5. Tune In
The final reason is because you get to watch the entire creative process of this projects through “Saturday Morning Cartoons.” That’s a weekly show that I put out through the month of January. It was a creative progress show I put out so you could see the genesis of the project and the whole thing is filmed from top to bottom. I did five days in New York City, in Brooklyn, and I did some days in Atlanta with other producers. There were cameras that followed me from top to bottom. You can go to AndyMineo.com and watch them as they come out. One comes out every Saturday in January. The last one premiered on Saturday and you can watch them all. You get to see us working on all of these records. If you’re a creator, I think this is going to inspire you.
