4. Merging The Old W/ The New
If you consider yourself a hip-hop fan, and the entire Wu-Tang Clan has gotten together to celebrate arguably one of the most classic albums in hip-hop history, hands down, to perform 36 Chambers in New York City all together [then you can’t miss it]. Somebody like Kendrick Lamar, who [we] would call a coming-out-of-the-minor-league MC, last year was on our festival stage and now he’s on the main stage, and he has songs with Drake and Jay-Z. If you know anything about Summer Jam then you know what that means. [We’d] also throw A$AP Rocky in there—last year he was on the festival stage and now he’s on the main stage, and he has songs with Drake. When was the last time a New York artist got big in the mainstream and then took the Summer Jam stage? You have A$AP Rocky and French Montana, this is his own set. (Peter Rosenberg, Cipha Sounds and Ebro).
